Chia seeds can cause constipation and diarrhea: We know that chia seeds are a rich source of fiber. So if we directly consume these seeds, we may face constipation, diarrhea, and flatulence (accumulation of gas in the alimentary canal). But thankfully, there are other ways to eating chia seeds so that we may avoid such problems. We should soak these seeds in water before eating them. It is a good idea to consume chia seeds.
Chia seeds can cause choking hazard: If chia seeds are not presoaked, they will create a problem of choke (have severe difficulty in breathing because of a constricted or obstructed throat or a lack of air). Without soaking, Chia seeds will make a gel like gelatinous which blocks the esophagus. Chia seeds are very famous for giving of choking hazard. So always soak or roast them.
Creates diverticulum problem: We know that chia seeds are a good source of high fiber diet. High fiber diet is responsible for diverticulum disease. Diverticulitis develops bulging sacs or pockets called diverticula along the lining of the large intestine. These bulges get inflammation due to the stickiness of chia seeds in these bulges and try to push out through the colon wall, causing pain usually on the left side of the abdomen, bloating, and diarrhea.
Creates allergies reactions: Chia seeds contain a lot of protein. If you have allergy from protein, you should not consume chia seeds. They can cause a lot of reactions which result in skin rashes, watery eyes, vomiting, and diarrhea, repetitive coughing with wheezing, difficulty swallowing, and inflammation of the throat. Creates Prostate Tumors: A recent 2013 study indicates that eating foods which are high in omega-3 fatty acids like chia seeds (which contain alpha-linoleic acid) could trigger the formation of prostate tumors. The prostate is a walnut-sized gland located between the bladder and the penis. The prostate is just in front of the rectum. The tumor is also known as a neoplasm and it is an abnormal mass of tissue which may be solid or fluid-filled.
Bleeding: The presence of omega 3 fatty acids in the chia seeds makes the blood thin. If you already have low blood pressure, the consumption of chia seeds will make more blood thinner and eventually it creates the bleeding problem.
The effect in blood sugar: No doubt, chia seeds regulate the glucose level. If you are a diabetes patient and taking medicine, you should avoid the consumption of chia seeds because eating them can over stimulate the medicines and will result in creating complications.
